About Us
Everyone at TakeFlight is a pilot.
Our Story
TakeFlight Interactive began in 2015 when flight-sim designer Brandon Seltz saw that desktop simulators could do far more than entertain. He recognized that structured, AI-driven training could help pilots master procedures and decision-making long before setting foot in an aircraft. His idea: make serious flight training as accessible and repeatable as a video game—cutting costs, accelerating progress, and making the journey fun.
What We Do
TakeFlight turns Microsoft Flight Simulator, X-Plane, and other high-fidelity platforms into a virtual flight school. Its AI instructor, AIVIator, guides pilots through a Brief → Train → Evaluate → Challenge cycle with objective scoring and data analytics.
- Faster path to first solo or advanced ratings
- Refresh skills after time away from the cockpit
- Repeat complex scenarios safely and cheaply
Military + Civilian Crossover
The same technology trusted by the U.S. Navy to train student aviators powers every home setup. In 2023 the Navy selected TakeFlight’s platform for its Naval Aviation Training Next T-6B VR trainers, validating the approach at the highest level.
- Military-grade realism benefits civilian pilots—more accurate procedures, better decision-making.
- Civilian pilots benefit from military-proven innovation.
- Cost-effective way to build real stick-and-rudder skills.
Impact
- Reduces training time and cost: students reach milestones with fewer flight hours.
- Refreshes rusty skills: returning pilots regain proficiency quickly.
- Saves money: high-repetition simulator time costs a fraction of aircraft rental and instructor rates.
- Makes practice fun: Game-style scoring and challenges sustain interest, building confidence in the airplane.
“TakeFlight is amazing because the artificial intelligence instructor is in there actually teaching you how to fly,” says Kevin “Sling” Martin of Liberty University.
